The Eyeglass Manufacturing Process

Great ideas for eyeglass frames come from a variety of sources. We receive sketches, drawings, photos with notes, old frames from defunct manufacturers, and of course, computer aided drawings or CAD's.

Can We Make A Frame Just Like This - Only Different? You Bet!

BK Optical is often contracted to design a specialty frame for the work force. We've designed frames for sports and fitness wear, military applications - you name it!

We begin the design of your frame using our high-tech CAD drawing system.
We also use the CAD system to generate multiple frame sizes.

Next, we'll cut a flat sample of the frame and send it to you for approval.
Of course you've also had the chance by now to select the frame color or colors and hardware.

There's No Substitute For Experience In The Frame Industry

The first step of full production is to cut and shape the various frame components. Our skilled crafts people are perfectionists with over 50 years of combined experience. We still do a lot of things the way they did 45 years ago, like tumbling the frames in Maple hardwood pegs for 5 days.

Customers always comment on the glossy finish of our frames and we think this 'old fashioned way' of polishing your frames is still the best way.

Next we join the frame to the temples and apply the appropriate hinges and nose pieces. We utilize only the finest hardware in our frames since this is one of the leading source of complaints by consumers. Stainless steel, nickle, silver, spring-hinged, or traditional - the choices are virtually unlimited.
Finally, we pack and ship your frames to you.
